An incredibly poignant last letter home from a tragic Tommy to his army veteran dad days before he was killed in the First World War has been unearthed 111 years later.
Lance Corporal William Burton was inspired to follow in the footsteps of his father, also called William, who had served with distinction in the Boer War.
But soon after joining the army in 1914, the 21-year-old was sent to the Western Front to fight against German forces.
