For the last decade Poland has been struggling with a thorough military reform which would help get rid of the Warsaw Pact heritage and adjust the military establishment to modem challenges and, in particular, NATO membership. In the case of special forces, the results have so far been not very promising. Poland still lacks a special ops doctrine, and subsequent appropriate structural arrangements. The article discusses possibilities for changing this. It is suggested that Poland adopts a special long‐term special forces restructuring programme, developed in parallel with the already‐approved ‘Force 2012’ plan.
