Invasions Without Tears: The Story of Canada's Top-scoring Spitfire Wing in Europe During the Second World War (1994) By Monty Berger & Brian Jeffrey Street

Monty Berger was the first RCAF ground officer to land on the beaches of Normandy on June 7, 1944, washing ashore at the dawn of D-Day+1. Invasions Without Tears, based on a manuscript Mr Berger wrote 50 years ago, gives us a personal account, both in the air and on the ground, of what life was like with 126 Wing, one of the most formidable fighting forces of World War II.

A fascinating look at the day-to-day lives of the fighter pilots and ground crew of the RCAF's 126 Wing, flying in support of British and Canadian armies in the battle for Europe. 126 Wing initially consisted of 401, 411, and 412 Squadrons, with 401 and 442 joining them later on.
