An account of the Northern Rivers Cavalry of New South Wales, being the story of Richmond River horsemen who were members of the Upper Clarence Light Horse; The Richmond River Light Horse; 'E' and 'G' Troops of the New South Wales Regiment of Volunteer Cavalry; 4th Squadron, New South Wales Lancers. Extremely important unit history of the early light horse troops and their involvement in the Boer war. Of the 170 lancers who served in South Africa, 51 were from the 4th Squadron. Relates the activities of these farmers turned cavalrymen during their training, camps, tournaments, overseas visits and Boer War service. Much of the history is taken from the files of three local newspapers and the personal diaries and letters of the troopers.
